Five Ways To Get A Promotion

Job Security is at the top of everyone's list, even those who are their own bosses. Here are 5 ways to ensure you will get the promotion you want and deserve.

1) You need to begin overachieving in your current position. I am not saying to kiss your boss's butt, but you do need to go above and beyond. Do some extra projects. Arrive at the office early. Little things like this will make a difference.

2) Let management know you want to move on and up. Share your goals with them. Do not assume they already know. They may not have a clue. Let them know you do not want to be doing the same thing all your life.

3) Say you interviewed for the position and did not get it. Ask for some feedback on what you did wrong. Listen to what they tell you. This way you know how to better prepare the next time. You may be missing out on the same promotion for many years in a row because you do not know what you are doing wrong.

4) Be willing to be the position you want to have. Ask others when they need help and help them. Be kind to others around the office. Do not hold someone back because they are in line for the same deal. These are common sense things that so many forget.

"When you cannot be replaced, then you cannot be promoted".

5) It is not enough to understand the "what" in everything you do in the company. You need to understand the "why" of it all. Be reliable and trustworthy. Become the person you want to see promoted in the office. Once you do this, then you are on the right track.
